Summary
Mr. Collard represents the firm's clients in complex domestic relations cases involving prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, divorce, child custody and support, alimony, legitimation, paternity and post judgment issues, as well as certain appeals. He specializes in cases involving complex financial issues, including the valuation and division of business interests such as closely held and professional corporations, partnerships and other business entities, and those involving professionals such as attorneys and physicians; cases involving extensive discovery and the use of financial and other expert witnesses; and complex child custody matters, including those involving psychological examinations and evaluations by court appointed guardians ad litem. He is also a certified Collaborative Law attorney and Guardian Ad Litem (including pro bono service through the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyer's Foundation).
After completing his bachelor's degree, Mr. Collard served as a police officer before entering law school, where he was a member of the Florida State University Law Review, a teaching assistant in the trial practice program, an intern in the Office of the Governor of Florida and a certified legal intern (representing the State in criminal prosecutions during his third year).
Mr. Collard was a partner at Warner, Mayoue, Bates & Nolen, P.C., before joining the Firm in 1997. He makes his home in midtown Atlanta with his partner, Michael Spillers, a marketing manager at IBM.
