Kessler on Kim Kardashian’s Stalker Case

Atlanta family law attorney Randy Kessler, who is not involved in the case, provided legal insight into why restraining orders are sometimes renewed rather than allowed to expire. Kessler explained that a restraining order is an important legal tool that allows law enforcement to act quickly if its terms are violated and can continue to provide meaningful protection when safety concerns remain.

He also noted that renewing a restraining order is often about preventing future harm rather than responding to a new incident. When a court finds there is a reasonable basis to believe the risk has not ended, extending the order may be an appropriate way to maintain legal protections and help deter further unwanted contact.
